Home is Here

I don’t really know how I could ever live anywhere but here…I know where the full moon will rise, and I sit by a certain window each morning to watch dawn breaking as it shines through the small prisms hanging in my windows. And my keeping room window is where the rays of the setting sun shines through and fills the room with light I will never tire of seeing. It is a light that covers the space in dapples and warms the soul of this old house, it is a light that keeps me here.

I go to my garden nearly every morning. This morning, I trimmed my tomato plants, cut a small bouquet of zinnias, and picked a few cucumbers. While I was there, I happened upon a Swallowtail Caterpillar getting ready to feast on my dill…that’s fine with me, for I will soon see him as a butterfly pollinating my zinnias and my herbs…enjoy it Mr. Caterpillar.

The monarchs have already been here weeks ago, long enough for the milkweed to grow back and bloom. I wonder if they will return. I hope so.

Anyway, that is my 2 cents worth…I feel joy and a real connection when I spend time in my garden and I share it in hopes that you do also...
